Our newest addition
Those of you that know us, know that we tried for almost 2 years to conceive our son, the monster. Imagine our surprise when we decided the end of this year would be a good time to add another hellion, and ended up pregnant in February. Our newest bean was given the due date of November 12th at our first appointment, and we were able to see it on the ultrasound screen, a seemingly healthy little thing with two arm buds, and two legs. *warning, this can be TMI, so read at your own risk*
About 11 weeks into the pregnancy I started spotting, it wasn't bright red so I was not really overly worried, but enough was there that I went ahead and went into the doctor. I was diagnosed with complete previa. I had read about this condition in baby books, and knew that meant the baby's way out through the cervix was being blocked by it's placenta, which is the babies blood supply as well. I was not aware of what it really meant though. They told me it that it would require a cesarean birth, something I have zero experience with. They also informed me that it was a complete covering. Apparently when it is only partial, 90% of the time it moves out of the way as the uterus grows. When it is complete, it typically does not. They said that I was still really early to tell for sure, but that it looked as though it was fusing to the cervix. They said don't go home and google this and freak yourself out.... so that is exactly what I did. Of course I did not really freak myself out, but I did learn a lot about the condition. They mentioned that the birth would have to happen early (5-7 weeks early), and that I might need a blood transfusion. I started really bleeding the next day and had my first actual 'bleed' as those with this condition call it. I went back to the doctor... They put me on a 48 hour rest period from work and said no more lifting the monster, and nothing over 20lbs, and pelvic rest as well. I would continue to spot for 4 weeks.
I went ahead and had the chromosome testing done, and everything came back great! They were also able to tell the gender of the baby from the test, which they mailed to my sister. I am having a gender reveal party so I did not want to know that information just yet. My daughter and sister were so excited to get to know and throw the party for me, and I did not want to ruin that for them. The party is this Friday, and man am I ready to know so I can get my shop on!I have picked extremely adorable bedding sets for either gender, and honestly wanted a girl for my husband, but after all of the issues just really want my baby to be oik no matter what gender it is. I have a lot of wonderful people praying for my sweet angel, and am part of an amazing support group, and shave been more at ease since the spotting stopped almost 4 weeks ago. I am still very nervous about a c-section,and possibly having another bleed, or abruption. Fingers crossed and prayers said for a safe delivery and for sweet angel to stay in as long as possible!!
It's been a while....
It has been so long since I have posted anything, and I thought it might be a good idea to update this blog and actually start using it. I really started it to vent and post about my baking adventures, and that lasted all of three posts before the craziness of life got in the way. I will start by reintroducing myself and my family.... I am a mid-thirties (I use that label with pride) wife and mother, who not only tries to be all I can be for my family, but I also work 40 hours a week. My husband, Kevin- referred to mostly as the Hubby is a pretty awesome guy, though he drives me half batty at least three times through the week, my extremely sassy teenager; Mya, who I like to call my Princess, but sometimes I admit, I call her my angst and hormone ridden teenager, my toddler Bradley- referred to as the Monster, he currently thinks he is spiderman and like to web you when he is irritated with something you have done or said, and one last little angel that has yet to make its appearance outside the womb as of now. I have tried to explain to the fetus that it should probably stay put and that it is way scary out here, but it seems as though sweet angel is growing nice and healthy into yet another runny nose for me to chase down on a daily basis. I would like to add a side note that while I seem to sarcastically reference my children in this blog, they are the reason I get up in the morning- they apparently need to eat and whatnot- just kidding... I totally love my sweet little life suckers, they are my heart and my world.
We bought two Sub Shops in October 2014, and are in debt to our eyeballs, but the stores are doing great and it was a wonderful investment in our families future. We purchased our first home in July of 2013, and we are still unpacking... don't judge, unfortunately I am a working mom and playing with my children takes precedence over anything else on the weekends other than laundry so we have clean underware. I have a million DIY projects pinned on pintrest, but like I said ...working mom... so I don't get to do many of them. I do still enjoy baking when I have the chance. I recently made Oreo cupcakes, and they were ah-mazing! Taht's all for the family update... more later on the newest addition!

I am a blog virgin..... So bear with me if this really just sucks.
A little about me.......
I am in my mid-thirties, a married to a wonderful man that I want to kill sometimes, and mother to a gorgeous little lady that is about to enter her teen years, and a little boy that was born 3 months ago. I work 40 hours a week, at a credit union that shall be referred to as 'the work place' from here on out, and I clean a few places on the side for extra spending cash. I love to cook! I love to make meals for people and see them enjoy it. That of course, is the same reason most people get in to cooking. That, and it is therapeutic. I have the most fun with cake pops! I hope to have my own bakery in the next 3 years, and it will be called ..... tada, The Sweet Life!
I created this blog to do a few things. The main reason was to blow off steam, and the second was to share my love of baking, and the tips I have picked up on the way. thanks for taking time out of your day to read about my crazy but love filled life. Enjoy!
