Our newest addition
Those of you that know us, know that we tried for almost 2 years to conceive our son, the monster. Imagine our surprise when we decided the end of this year would be a good time to add another hellion, and ended up pregnant in February. Our newest bean was given the due date of November 12th at our first appointment, and we were able to see it on the ultrasound screen, a seemingly healthy little thing with two arm buds, and two legs. *warning, this can be TMI, so read at your own risk*
About 11 weeks into the pregnancy I started spotting, it wasn't bright red so I was not really overly worried, but enough was there that I went ahead and went into the doctor. I was diagnosed with complete previa. I had read about this condition in baby books, and knew that meant the baby's way out through the cervix was being blocked by it's placenta, which is the babies blood supply as well. I was not aware of what it really meant though. They told me it that it would require a cesarean birth, something I have zero experience with. They also informed me that it was a complete covering. Apparently when it is only partial, 90% of the time it moves out of the way as the uterus grows. When it is complete, it typically does not. They said that I was still really early to tell for sure, but that it looked as though it was fusing to the cervix. They said don't go home and google this and freak yourself out.... so that is exactly what I did. Of course I did not really freak myself out, but I did learn a lot about the condition. They mentioned that the birth would have to happen early (5-7 weeks early), and that I might need a blood transfusion. I started really bleeding the next day and had my first actual 'bleed' as those with this condition call it. I went back to the doctor... They put me on a 48 hour rest period from work and said no more lifting the monster, and nothing over 20lbs, and pelvic rest as well. I would continue to spot for 4 weeks.
I went ahead and had the chromosome testing done, and everything came back great! They were also able to tell the gender of the baby from the test, which they mailed to my sister. I am having a gender reveal party so I did not want to know that information just yet. My daughter and sister were so excited to get to know and throw the party for me, and I did not want to ruin that for them. The party is this Friday, and man am I ready to know so I can get my shop on!I have picked extremely adorable bedding sets for either gender, and honestly wanted a girl for my husband, but after all of the issues just really want my baby to be oik no matter what gender it is. I have a lot of wonderful people praying for my sweet angel, and am part of an amazing support group, and shave been more at ease since the spotting stopped almost 4 weeks ago. I am still very nervous about a c-section,and possibly having another bleed, or abruption. Fingers crossed and prayers said for a safe delivery and for sweet angel to stay in as long as possible!!
